Clover Peake is the author of two collections of poetry - Archetype: Mother, Father, Child (Spuyten Duyvil, 2018) and Beasts & Volcanoes (Knives Forks and Spoons, 2019).

Clover’s content is mined from real life experience. Themes of loss, grief, human relationships, the landscape of memory, and actual landscapes that seem to sleep within memory. These are elevated through the distillation of imagery by the poetic architecture of language. Working with the rhythm and musicality of language often combining the ordinary and mundane with lyrical symbolism and intense distorted imagery where the paradox of fiction contains the starkest truths.

Born in London in 1975, Clover Peake studied Greek and Latin at University College London (UCL) specialising in ancient poetry and translation, ancient meters and syntax and was particularly affected by Alexandrian poetry and how its brevity added greater impact to its imagery. Clover cites both her father the poet Fabian Peake and grandfather writer Mervyn Peake as part of her poetic education from childhood, especially learning English meter, poetic forms and versification.
